Grant Guidelines

Area of Interest:

Last year we provided grant awards of over $1 Million to 31 organizations helping homeless kids. We have also expanded our efforts to deal with the problems that impact the lives of the 85,000 foster kids in the state. We are now, not only helping local groups; but we are doing advocacy in Sacramento and at the county levels to make more sense out of the foster care program.

Foster care programs, especially those focused on emancipating youth; Programs for homeless children and youth, and for children living in transitional or subsidized housing.

Mentoring programs and programs providing services to support and enrich the lives of California's children without homes by providing: social skills in daily life, self expression through the arts, environmental education, physical fitness and nutrition, and life skills.

Grant Eligibility:
The Foundation will not support organizations that discriminate against a person or group on the basis of age, political affiliation, race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation or religious belief. All potential grantees must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or a public entity with a board or advisory group that is reflective of the population or community being served.

Grant Limitations:
The Foundation generally does not fund films, videos, conferences, seminar, capital, individuals, research, or special or fundraising events.

Geographic Focus:
Priority is given to organizations in the state of California. We occasionally consider projects beyond this region that affect us and unique projects that offer lessons or benefits for California.
